Peacefully situated amid glorious Trossachs scenery, on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Old Balwill makes an excellent base from which to tour central Scotland. Furnished and equipped to a very high standard.
Accommodation: 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, sitting room with dining area, dining kitchen, bathroom, shower room, utility room.
On the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Old Balwill was originally a signalman's cottage, sitting on the old railway line that ran between Stirling and Balloch. It has since been extensively modernised and extended and now provides very comfortable accommodation on two levels. It is furnished and equipped to a high standard and as the Scottish owners have travelled in southern Africa, you will find that many of the paintings and artefacts come from there.
Though in a peaceful, rural situation, the cottage is only two miles from the village of Buchlyvie, which has a well-stocked store, garage, cafe, butcher, hairdresser, pottery and art gallery, as well as a couple of pubs which serve good pub food.
It is a short drive to the cities of Stirling and Glasgow and only an hour away from the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. Whether you want to tour and admire the scenery, or are looking to fill your days with lots of physical activity, this area has it all. There are a large number of Munros within easy reach and miles of forest trails for walking and cycling. Sailors, windsurfers and canoeists can head out onto Loch Ard, Loch Venacher and, of course, famous Loch Lomond, while golfers have a choice of five local clubs within ten miles, all of which welcome visitors.
If all this sounds too energetic, the cottage itself has every home comfort and the garden is a very peaceful place to sit and relax!
