    Our 4-star graded Garden Apartment (sleeps 2 max) is within Pilrig House, an A-listed 17th-Century Scottish Townhouse (built in 1638), which has an incredible history and a wonderful literary connection - it was once the home of Robert Louis Stevenson's mother's family - one of Scotland's most acclaimed authors! He mentions Pilrig House in his novels: Kidnapped and Catriona.

    Uniquely located on the edge of a peaceful park, it is only a short stroll (1 mile), or 5 minutes by bus, to Edinburgh's city centre and all the main attractions. The apartment overlooks private gardens and lush, green parkland - offering peace and tranquillity after busy days' sightseeing! Guests can enjoy sitting in the private garden to the front of the house, or in the privacy of the Regency garden, which has secluded seating areas and is teeming with wildlife.

    Open all year. The apartment is non-smoking, but you are welcome to smoke outside. And, sorry, no pets. We welcome chidlren aged 7 and over. Please see our website for minimum stays each month, rates, availability and booking form.


    Bookings - Payment
    For bookings of 7 nights or less, we ask for payment on booking. For bookings exceeding 7 nights, we ask for 50% payment on booking, and 50% 8 weeks before your stay. We send an online payment request, payable by debit or credit card.

    Cancellation Policy
    We ask that all prospective guests read our Conditions of Rental on our website before completing a Booking Form - our Cancellation Policy is clearly stated on that page.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre: You can walk from the tourist information centre in around 20 minutes - Pilrig House is located under a mile away. Please ask for directions. Or, take a bus, or a taxi! If you enquire, we will be happy to provide details of bus numbers and directions.

    Getting there by railway:- You should disembark at Waverley station and take a taxi - it will cost around £6. Or, if you have very little luggage, you can walk to the apartment in around 20 minutes. Please ask for directions!

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Edinburgh International Airport, you can take the airport city shuttle bus, which leaves approx. every 10 minutes outside the main entrance. You disembark at the terminus point on Waverley Bridge and, for here, take a taxi, which will cost in the region of around £5 to £6. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the aiport directly to Pilrig House, which should cost around £22. The city is around 12 miles form the airport.
