    Road Directions

Stravaigin Lodge is situated six miles north of Dunoon on the A815 between the Holy Loch and Loch Eck on a site known collectively as Lamont Lodges. If coming from Dunoon the site entrance is just 200m past the Puck’s Glen car park on the right. If coming from the north, the entrance is one mile past the entrance to Benmore Botanical Gardens, just before the Puck’s Glen car park.

From Glasgow there are two optional routes by car/ferry:

Take the A82 (signed for Crianlarich) and continue north alongside the western side of Loch Lomond. When you reach Tarbet continue straight on on the same road (where it turns into the A83, signed for Inverary) which takes you through Arrochar and over the Rest And Be Thankful Pass. A mile before Cairndow turn left onto the A815 (signed for Dunoon) and follow the road along the shores of Loch Fyne, through Strachur and down Loch Eck. Shortly after Loch Eck you will see Benmore Botanical Gardens on the right. About a mile further on, just past a handful of houses (the village of Uig), Lamont Lodges will be on the left hand side behind some trees. If you miss the entrance, don’t worry, Puck’s Glen car park is just another 200m further on where you can turn. This drive takes around 1hr 40mins.

The other option is to go to Gourock where you can take the ferry. This route takes you through Port Glasgow, Greenock and Gourock (M8, A8, A770). Just at the end of Gourock is Hunter’s Quay where Western Ferries run a regular, fast service across to McInroy’s Point just north east of Dunoon. From here it is a ten minute drive to the lodge.

    Public Transport Directions

Ferry tickets can be bought on board but are cheaper if bought from ‘Paul’s Food & Wine‘ in Gourock. Please contact for details.

There is also a passenger-only ferry (run by Argyll Ferries) which leaves from beside Gourock train station directly to Dunoon pier.
