Communicative lessons take place round the corner from shops and cafes, all a short walk from the city centre. Study English in class in the morning, have a nice lunch outside, then use the self-access facilities in the afternoon.
These courses will give you the communicative English you need to live and work here. The Caledonian Language School's teachers are highly-qualified and experienced, and can help you improve your English or prepare for an examination. Full-time programmes will use the city centre location to take you out of the classroom and into places of historical or social interest, such as the Scottish Parliament or the law courts.
The Caledonian Language School can also help you to find family accommodation for your stay in Edinburgh. A social programme will offer opportunities to explore the real Edinburgh, and enjoy student life in the city.
Classes are designed to build learners' confidence in speaking and in using more complex language. You can expect to do information gap activities, pair-work and group-work, take part in role-play or give a presentation. Practical job-seeking skills, such as writing a CV or letter of application are often covered, as well as useful interview practice.
Depending on your level, you can also do examination preparation. These extra three-hour per week courses give intensive practice in exam technique for Cambridge First Certificate or Advanced, or IELTS, with plenty of homework to help you develop these skills.
