Garelochhead is an attractive village on the north banks of Gare Loch, one of the sealochs of Argyll and Bute.

Developed in the 1820s alongside the advent of steamer cruises, this quaint resort village in Argyll and Bute is known for its watersports and has great local walks and amenities. From Garelochhead the scenery changes dramatically to the north, as the hills to the north dominate the skyline.

The village sits at the head of the Roseneath Peninsula, commonly known as ‘The Green Isle’, which sits between Gare Loch and Loch Long and boasts picturesque villages such as Cove, Clynder, Rosneath and Kilcreggan.

When driving north, you can follow the signposted Clyde Sea Lochs trail to take in Gare Loch as well as the Firth of Clyde and Loch Long before rejoining the route north at Arrochar and Tarbet.
