Polmont is a former coal mining village east of Falkirk which now serves as a large commuter town to Scotland’s central belt cities.

Polmont grew and developed in the 18th and 19th centuries thanks to coal mining and the building of the Union Canal. Situated just south of Grangemouth’s oil refineries on the Firth of Forth, it is now a commuter town thanks to its location on one of Scotland’s main road arteries, the M9 motorway, and is served by frequent rail services to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
