The region is blessed with a fantastic variety of different terrains, thanks to its position straddling the Highland Boundary Fault, the natural phenomenon which fused the Highlands and Lowlands together many thousands of years ago.
This mix of mountain, moorland and river makes it a mecca for all country sports aficionados, particularly when matched to the top-quality facilities available supporting both rod and gun.
Perthshire has more than 40 estates and country sport venues that vary greatly in size from the likes of Atholl Estates that extends over 145,000 acres to the more compact 280 acres of Dunkeld House whose guests have access to the River Tay which runs through the grounds of the hotel.
Collectively, they offer a full range of pursuits including exceptional salmon and other game angling, deer stalking and hunting, walked up and rough game shooting and wildfowling.
A comprehensive list of estates and other venues across Perthshire can be found on the Country Sports Tourism Group website.
