There are lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy across the Kingdom of Fife, from fascinating museums to ancient castles, wildlife attractions and more.

Whether you fancy a few hours with the family exploring a beautiful park or one of the region’s many beaches, or if you want to see the latest science exhibition, you’ll find great things to see and do across the region.

Fife is the only region in Scotland which is home to three award-winning Blue Flag beaches. From the peace and tranquility of Tentsmuir to the picturesque beaches of the East Neuk and silvery bays and inlets of west and central Fife, find your perfect day exploring seemingly endless stretches of sand and rock pools.

For a slice of Fife’s maritime history, visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum which offers a fascinating insight into the fishing industry - from the earliest methods to the present day. Discover model and actual boats, fishing gear and information on every aspect of fishing, from the herring market to whaling.

Come face to face with sharks at Deep Sea World in North Queensferry. The attraction is home to one of the world's longest underwater tunnels, where you can view the likes of the huge sand tiger shark. Look out for the resident seals, piranhas and the wildlife of the Amazon rainforest.

Uncover the region's royal connections as you explore Falkland Palace and Gardens. Built by King James IV and James V between 1450 and 1541, this impressive Renaissance building was a country residence of the Stuart monarchs of Scotland for over 200 years. The palace was also home to Mary Queen of Scots and has the oldest tennis court in the world.

At Cairnie Fruit Farm & Mega Maze you can navigate your way through the unique six acre maize maze, enjoy trampolines, go carts, a climbing fort and funyard. Not to mention picking your own soft fruit - look out for cherries, brambles and pumpkin this autumn.

Take the children out for some fresh air on the golf course. There are plenty of courses in Fife, such as Elie, which welcome young golfers who are looking to improve their skills and practise their swing.

In the sandy curve of Elie Bay, try a range of sports in the sheltered waters, or head out beyond the bay where the open sea offers a challenge to the more experienced. Learn to canoe or kayak along Fife’s scenic coastline or try windsurfing or waterskiing courses at Elie Watersports.

Let the kids run around at Cluny Clay's outdoor adventure play area which includes straw dens and mountains, ziplines, electric trikes, dens and hides and a pedal kart track. Children over 10 can also take part in archery, air-rifle shooting and clay target shooting. Or why not take the family karting at Kartstart Racing Circuit in Kirkcaldy, where you can compete against each other to be named the winner?

Use the listings to plan a fun family day out in the Kingdom of Fife.
