If you have your tickets, or have been chosen as a volunteer for the XX Commonwealth Games then congratulations – you’re in for an unforgettable experience this summer!

Search for accommodation

In Glasgow

Most Games visitors will probably think of looking for accommodation in Glasgow itself. Inevitably, there’s a higher demand than usual for accommodation in Glasgow around Games time so you may have to shop around more to find and book a place to stay in the city.

If you have searched for a room in Glasgow before and had no luck, it might be worth trying again now. Some pre-booked blocks of accommodation were released in early March and put back on public sale. Try calling hotels direct, shopping around popular booking sites or call the VisitScotland contact centre on 0845 148 6040.

VisitScotland and other agencies are working with accommodation owners to make more rooms available so bookmark this page and check back for updates.

Beyond the city

You don’t have to restrict your search only to Glasgow. Thanks to Scotland’s excellent road and rail links and comprehensive public transport network, there are many towns in the surrounding regions that are within an hour’s journey time from most Games venues and so are well worth considering.

Try using the Traveline Scotland Journey Planner on the right of this page to get a sense of travel times by public transport. Key transport services will be enhanced during Games time, and details of this will be announced later. You can find out more about this and register for special offers and more information here.
