We've listed a few suggestions of the foodie delights to look out for during the Year of Homecoming.
Scotland is rightly proud of the many varieties of its national drink, from the peaty flavours of the west coast to the smoother malts of southern Scotland. May was our dedicated Whisky Month, which included celebrations such as World Whisky Day.
Why not plan a trip along the Malt Whisky Trail and learn all about what it takes to make the perfect blend of our 'water of life'? Go in search of your favourite dram on a tour of a distillery, or head to one of our amazing whisky bars.
On November 29, head to Dumfries for the Drambusters Whisky Festival. At this one-day event, you can choose from over 200 whiskies to sample and chat to whisky experts.
There are plenty of opportunities to sample tasty bites and expand your culinary horizons at the St Andrews Food & Drink Festival, which runs from 22 November – 1 December.
During the St Andrews Day weekend, you’ll find many delicious events being served up all across the country. Check out the haggis-making championships and discover the tastiest varieties of Scotland’s national dish while sampling a dram at Oban Distillery, an event which is part of the Oban Winter Festival. In Glasgow, tuck into some fresh and tasty food whilst enjoying music, DJ sets and live art during the St Andrews Day Street Feastival.

Tantalise your taste buds in Edinburgh this December and experience some of your favourite festive films in a multi-sensory cinema experience at the National Gallery of Scotland. Watch classic films whilst eating and drinking a specially-prepared menu along with the characters on the silver screen.
Describing the sights and smells of farmers’ markets doesn't do them justice. You really have to experience them to see Scottish produce at its very best. Held regularly throughout the country, they are the ideal place to discover unique and artisan goodies, from cheeses to game meats, bought direct from the producers, who are always more than happy to answer any questions and share hints and tips on how to cook and serve them to perfection. Look out for extra dates and special Christmas markets in the November and December!
When eating out, look out for the Michelin star, the guaranteed standard of fine dining across Scotland. We've got 16 of these wonderful restaurants throughout the country, with no fewer than five in Edinburgh. This means Scotland's capital city (along with Dublin) has the highest number of Michelin-starred eateries outside London.
