Events & Festivals in March

As part of Homecoming Scotland 2014, Scotland’s international poetry festival will be exploring the theme of ‘Home’ and what it means to poets. There will also be a focus on ‘Poetry in Motion’ and looking at contributions from across the Commonwealth. The festival will hold over 80 events including readings, discussions, workshops and films. The historic town of St Andrews on the coast of Fife will provide a stunning backdrop to events and a great base for touring.

The French rugby team return to Edinburgh for what promises to be an exciting Six Nations match against Scotland. Join the crowds at Murrayfield Stadium to enjoy pre-match entertainment, a friendly atmosphere and, of course, a high level of sport. The after-party will continue long into the night at bars, restaurants and clubs across the city. The following day you can try a traditional Scottish Breakfast before heading out to see Edinburgh’s famous landmarks.

Each March, Glasgow International Comedy Festival will include a hilarious line-up of some top UK acts, such as Richard Herring, Russell Kane and Chris Ramsey. There will also be opportunities to discover rising stars and attend shows with a variety of acts. In-between gigs you can take in some of Glasgow’s sites including the architecture and designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh at Glasgow School of Art.
