Dalmally Railway station is a wonderful place to visit and is the last remaining station house on the old Callender/ Oban line. It was built in 1877 for the Duke of Argyll
The new owners Liz and Graham have retained much of the character of the station house buildings. The recent adoption of the station is bringing new life and interest to both locals and to those travelling through by train. The station even has its own face book page Dalmally Railway Station- come and give us a like.
Always known for the friendly welcome given by previous station masters, they endeavour to continue to give a warm Argyll welcome to those who come to do workshops or just drop by to feel the nostalgia of the past.
Heartfelt Studio is a working textile studio which was founded in 1997 in Ayrshire. Liz is a textile artist specialising in handmade felt from sheep’s wool. Dalmally Station is a new opportunity for both Liz and Graham to continue this well established and widely known studio in a new setting.
There is work by local artists to view also in the Studio and the platform often has weaving and spinning demonstrations.
. Liz has taught in many countries - some as far away as Mongolia. Her skill base includes a Diploma in Floristry, City and Guilds in Millinery and pattern construction and textile fashion. Graham has farmed sheep since his childhood in Argyll.
Graham’s careers in plumbing, heating and roofing have been the fulcrum to change Dalmally Station from a crumbling building to regain its former beauty.
