Day by day trip details

Taking flight

The tour starts at Dirleton Castle (1) on the A198. Then turn left to the beach at Yellowcraigs (2). Head towards North Berwick and the Scottish Seabird Centre (3) then take the B1347 to East Fortune, following signs for the Museum of Flight (4).

Country houses & country parks

Continue to East Linton and Preston Mill (5). Join the A1 and take the first exit, following signs for East Links Family Park (6). Rejoin the A1 south to Berwick-Upon-Tweed and join the B6461 to Paxton House (7). Take the B6461 and turn left onto the B6437. At crossroads join the A6112 and follow signs for The Hirsel Country Park (8).

Exploring the Borders

Head back to Coldstream and join the A698 towards Kelso, taking the A6089 exit at the roundabout, follow signs for Floors Castle (9).

Turn left onto the B6397, then the B6404. Turn right onto the B6356 to Scott's View (10) and the Wallace Monument (11), a five minute walk from a small car park on the Bemersyde Road.

Return to Clintmains and turn right onto the B6404, to St Boswells. Continue through the village until you reach the T junction for the A68. Turn right, and then take the A6091 to Melrose and the Three Hills Roman Heritage Centre (12).
