His interests have encompassed many different areas including languages, technology, art, and film, a range reflected in the great variety in style, form and subject his work provides. From sonnet to concrete poem, from opera libretto to performance with jazz saxophonist Tommy Smith, Morgan's work is wide-ranging as you could wish for, its striking inventiveness being just one of its special qualities. He has published several volumes of poetry, as well as collections of essays and has been awarded numerous honours including an OBE, the title of Glasgow's first Poet Laureate in 1999, and the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 2000.
