Neil Munro

A native of Inveraray, Munro (1864 - 1930) was a journalist by profession and for many years was the editor of the Glasgow Evening News.
He is best known for his gently comic tales of the Clyde puffer, The Vital Spark and its wily skipper, Para Handy but he long harboured ambitions to be recognised as a serious author. He had, in fact, produced a number of historical and contemporary novels, poetry and non-fiction but these have been overshadowed by his humorous tales of life in the west of Scotland.
