Pantomime in Edinburgh
Theatre in Scotland has come a long way since Sir Harry Lauder was treading the boards with his very distinctive portrayals of the 'typical' Scot...

Certainly, the music hall tradition that he represented still flourishes in the annual Christmas pantomimes around the country that delight kids from eight to eighty but this is only one small part of a thriving drama community.

While the biggest platform for theatre in Scotland is the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe, all through the year in venues across Scotland that rank amongst both the largest and smallest in the UK (and every other size in between), you will find comedies, dramas, musicals, cabaret, opera and ballet of the highest quality, much of it home-grown.

The National Theatre of Scotland is a touring company, bringing productions to theatres across Scotland and beyond, working with the best Scottish actors, directors and theatre companies.
