Old Spey Bridge (early 1900) by Alex Ledingham

1 The Clachan is a modern cottage providing exceptionally comfortable accommodation and is available for private holiday rental.

It is situated on a private road just off a tree-lined avenue in the beautiful setting of Grantown-on-Spey, Strathspey and within the Cairngorm National Park.

Prices vary depending on season and are from £400 per week. Short breaks are also available, please contact directly on the phone number or email address provided. The cottage was built in 1994 on the original site where Alexander Ledingham, Photographer lived. He and his father were both respected local photographers known since 1908 for their pictures, portraits and famous postcards of Strathspey and the Cairngorm Mountains. (Grantown Museum has a collection)

1 The Clachan is an attractive two bedroomed cottage, sleeping four people. The facilities are excellent with recent refurbishing and the installation of a new kitchen. A large private south-facing garden surrounds the cottage with a spacious leisure area and parking, only a few minutes to walk to traditional shops and restaurants.

The cottage is cosy, warm and filled with light. The kitchen/dining room is spacious and fully equipped. The large porch/utility has the tumble dryer and an area for storing outdoor clothing and footwear. There is also lockable outdoor storage available. There is a modern shower room, two comfortable bedrooms -  one double room and one double/ twin room (1 with en-suite facilities). The living room is attractively furnished, a very sunny relaxing room looking out to the garden. The cottage provides a 'bolt hole' and is the perfect place to escape to for relaxation.

Grantown-on-Spey
The town was founded in 1765 by the young clan chief, The 'Good' Sir James Grant of Grant who planned the new town to improve the lives of his tenants. Castle Grant is a handsome building one mile north of the town and many other fine Georgian and Victorian dwellings, churches and houses grace The Square and the avenues.
Situated within the Cairngorm National Park and surrounded by the ancient Anagach Woods the town is in an area of spectacular beauty. The River Spey and Viewpoint can be reached by woodland trails a short walk from the cottage. The Cromdale Hills, Cairngorm Mountain and railway are only a short drive away where excellent winter sports facilities are based.

Here in the heart of Strathspey there is an abundance of wildlife and the opportunity to access many outdoor activities, hill waking, climbing, fishing (loch and river) and the challenging championship golf courses of the Spey Valley.
Many whisky distilleries, historic castles including Brodie and Cawdor and the sealife of the Moray Firth are within an hour's drive of Grantown.
