Overview



We have transformed a traditional manse into a four star Bed and Breakfast in doing so we have endeavoured to retain as many features and decorations as possible of the original structure yet enable our guests to enjoy all the luxuries of a modern life style.

We offer any assistance in arranging any interests you may have to make your time at 36 The Mall something you will want to come back to many times again. I will give a short list of possible interests.

Golf courses: there is the Par 71 Medal the fifth oldest course in the world, it has been in use since 1562 and is used as a final qualifier for the Open Championships. Along side is the Broomfield course which is also par 71 but is flatter and easier. To give endless choice there is over 116 golf courses with in the Tayside and Grampian area.

Bird/Nature reserves are well catered for with the Basin wild life centre having international fame for its unique facilities discreetly allowing you to watch nature on 2,000 acres of tidal basin, also at near by St Cyrus is another nature reserve with many interesting features.

Beaches: Montrose beach has been awarded a blue flag for cleanliness and bathing with its water splash play amusements area on hand and also offers miles of delightful and varied walks or watching the movements of shipping to and from the busy harbour. Also near by is Lunan Bay also a beautiful place to relax.

Touring: being close to the Angus glens and having an endless network of rural roads every day will offer new views and experiences, whilst Aberdeen, Dundee and Perth are all within 1 hours drive.

Leisure/Activity: swimming baths and fitness are a few minutes walk from 36 The Mall there is also Montrose sports centre near by, Bowling is well catered for with 4 greens around the town. Tennis courts are very popular, whilst not forgetting football in its many forms.

Museums: 2 are nearby, with Dun House a beautiful Palladian-style Georgian house built by William Adam in 1730. A short distance out of town. The rivers North Esk and South Esk are well known for salmon fishing sea angling may also be enjoyed along with wild fowling.

Restaurants/Cafes: there are many variations of eateries to choose from. Many bars and hostelries to quench a thirst.

Shopaholics: Montrose offers a good selection of shops many being specialist, also the renowned world wide and popular Antique auctions at Taylor's Auction rooms.
