Well positioned near the centre of the lovely, historic town of North Berwick, 47westgate is a comfortable 5 star apartment.
47 Westgate is a great base for a holiday or short break. It will appeal to golfers, sailors, birds watchers and holidaymakers who just like being by the seaside. Conveniently located at the end of North Berwick High Street and within five minutes walk of the station, the beach, the golf course, the harbour. This busy little town offers cafes, bars, restaurants, galleries and a good range of shops. In fact once you park your car there is little need to use it again for the rest of your stay.
The bright and airy apartment accommodates up to four adults in two bedrooms - one king size double (or twin if preferred) with en-suite bath and shower, and one twin bedded room. There is a separate shower room with toilet and basin. All linen is provided with luxurious 100% cotton sheets. Complementary toiletries from the Scottish Fine Soap company are also included.
The lounge with its tall ceilings and large bay window has views to the harbour and the Sailing Club starters' hut. There is a gas fire for cooler evenings TV and DVD player. There is a great selection of DVDs and games. There is a convenient litle desk area in the hall way and Free wi-fi is included.
The modern kitchen and dining room are well designed and include everthing you need for your stay: oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Its a great space for entertaining; your guests sitting at the breakfast bar with a glass of wine while you get on with the cooking or why not just nip along the High Street and collect a takeaway. The adjoining utility room has freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and a traditional pulley for hanging up that wet golfing or sailing gear.
Don't worry about packing your car with all those self-catering basics. We provide coffee, tea and sugar as well as a full range of cleaning materials and a complementary bottle of wine.
The East Lothian coast provides a wonderful landscape with sandy bays and rocky cliffs, and the outlying islands, the Bass Rock, May Island and Craigleith, are home to many bird species including puffins, cormorants, gulls and many others. The Bass Rock is the largest island gannet colony in the world. North Berwick is home to the Scottish Seabird Centre with its battery of webcams positioned on the surrounding islands.
Boat trips from the harbour offer tours for bird watching and spotting the marine life such as seals and dolphins. Boats for fishing trips are available for hire.
The East of Scotland is known as the home of golf, and North Berwick offers a superb base for a golfing trip, with ready access to the West Course, Muirfield, Gullane, Dunbar and many more. There are more than twenty golf courses within easy reach in East Lothian, and many more in and around Edinburgh and also across the Forth in Fife where you might want to make a pilgrimage to St Andrews.
There is a wide range of features of interest for the holidaymaker. There are ruined medieval castles at Tantallon with its dramatic cliff top location and at Dirleton with its superb herbaceous border. The Museum of Flight offers an opportunity to board Concorde and the Myreton Motor Museum has a wonderful collection of vintage cars, motor cycles and commercial vehicles.
Most of Scotland's whiskies are produced in the highlands and islands but nearby Pencaitland is the home of the Glenkinchie Distillery where it is possible to take part in a visitor tour and sample the 'Edinburgh Malt'.
Just half an hour away by train, Edinburgh offers a unique collection of attractions for the visitor. The Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia, Holyrood Palace and the Parliament building are all "must-sees". There is also a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants, including a number with Michelin stars, to savour and enjoy. The world famous International Festival and Fringe provide an unparalleled range of music, drama, art and other entertainment during August every year.
