Glen Acer B&B is situated in the heart of Inverness, capital of the Highlands. 5 mins walk from the city centre, train & bus stations and minutes from the spectacular countryside that is the Highlands.
Close to the theatre, restaurants, bars and shops and well-situated for all road, rail and air links, with some on street parking, it is a great location.
All rooms have: flat screen TVs with DVD player/digi box; tea/coffee facilities; and a clock radio. Hairdryers are provided, so that's one less thing to pack. There is free wi-fi and all rooms have at least 6 13-amp sockets and a shaver point. The ground floor room is fully en-suite. There are 2 additional rooms that can be either superking-sized double or twin (shared facilities) and also a single room.
The dining area/guest lounge has comfortable seating if you want to spend a little time out of your room, or on a cold winter night you can enjoy the open fire.
After a good night's sleep a substantial full Scottish breakfast awaits and perhaps your first taste of haggis. Early breakfasts can be arranged and vegetarian and other special diets catered for (please ask at the time of booking). Produce is local where possible eg organic free range eggs from a local farm. Tray bakes are home made eg scones and pancakes.
One of only 4 B&Bs/Guest Houses within Inverness working with the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) the Acer Glen holds a Silver Award and is always striving to minimise its impact on the environment by supporting sustainable tourism.
Check in is normally 16:00 and 19:00, other times by arrangement. Acer Glen enjoys a very central location in the Heart of the Highland capital, close to the River Ness, the Castle, Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre. Being so close to the city centre you can spend your day enjoying a wide range of independent shops, cafe, restaurants and bars, or the many national equivalents.
If you want to enjoy local attractions and the fantastic scenery you can visit Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, The Black Isle, or try your hand at Nessie spotting on Loch Ness and the Great Glen, or the more successful dolphin watching in the Moray Firth.
There are many Munros (hills over 3,000 feet tall) within easy reach and the Cairngorm National Park is just a 30 minute drive or 40 mins to the ski slopes. Even Ben Nevis can be conquered in a day and you can be back in the Glen Acer B&B by late afternoon.
Inverness is an excellent jumping off point to explore the rich culture and history of: the west coast; the Isle of Skye; the northern tip of the UK, including John o'Groats; Orkney and the Shetlands. And what trip to Northern Scotland would be complete without a whiskey tour.
If able to enjoy an in-house treatment from Maple Leaf Massage you can benefit from a Holistic (relaxing) Massage, Sports Massage or Indian Head Massage. So after a days sightseeing, hill walking, shopping, working or undertaking one of the many highland challenges, like the Inverness Marathon, you can appreciate all the benefits of massage in the comfort of your B&B.
