Admiralty Apartment

Overview

Whether you come to Shetland for the scenery, the wildlife, the boating, the archaeology, the geology, the music, or on business, you will appreciate the convenience and comfort offered by The Admiralty Apartment. Luxuriously appointed and with panoramic views over the harbour, the town and Fort Charlotte, The Admiralty occupies what used to be the residential space for the original owner, John M. Aitken, in this important Lerwick building. This floor was also used by the Admiralty to control North Atlantic convoys during the first world war - hence the name. The Admiralty is convenient for shops and eating out (or in) and has easy car parking.
The Admiralty has WiFi throughout. See the Business page for more details.
Until recently The Admiralty was kept by its owner for his private use. It is newly available for discerning visitors and we look forward to your visit.
There is plenty to do in Lerwick - the bustling harbour and our award-winning museum are not to be missed. Eating out ranges from the finest fish restaurants through Thai, Chinese, Indian and Turkish cuisine. One of the best Chinese restaurants is in the same building as The Admiralty.
Outside Lerwick, the spectacular scenery and wild-life was kept quiet until Simon King's 'Shetland Diaries' series on BBC television let the secret out. Up close and personal with puffins, plenty of otters if you're patient enough, killer whales, sea-bird colonies - there's the archaeology - neolithic, bronze age, Viking. The geology is so special that Shetland now has world geopark status. Shetland's unique history will blow your mind - then there"²s the people - the warmest welcome you will find anywhere. For that special experience, come to The Admiralty.
This comment from one of our guests says it all:
Thank you for sharing the beautiful Admiralty Apartment, it is the most stunning apartment I have ever stayed in and we all really enjoyed our stay there (my brother, loved the views and being able to watch the skies from the window in the corner; my daughter enjoyed the wee 'cubby corner' for all her cuddly toys and also the amount of space to play in. Me? I loved every part of being in the luxurious surroundings, the views and the comfort of the apartment. It all added to a wonderful holiday for us in one of our favourite places in the world.)
Many thanks again,
best wishes,
Katrina.

Welcome to Shetland!
