Albany

Overview

It is a unique building with a mixture of double, twin, single and family rooms, all with en suite facilities and re-furbished to the highest standard. The character of the location had been retained whilst ensuring a high level of comfort and luxury at an affordable rate. The Ballantrae-Albany Townhouse occupies three classical Georgian terraced townhouses. These are believed to have been built by William Sibbald although there is no definite record of this. The design of these buildings is typical of the Georgian period, an ashlar sandstone principal facing with rustic ruble facing on the basement. The entrances to numbers 39 and 41 are panelled doors with fan portal windows. Number 43 differs here as the entrance is on a facing which is set slightly back from the road; the portal here is of a rectangular shape with an arch design.

There are no records of the original interior design of the buildings but it is easy to allow your imagination to flow and think of how the houses would have looked in the height of Georgian grandeur. In 1966 the townhouses were made a grade A listed building, this listing also includes the railings that surround the front entrance. The Ballantrae-Albany has been a hotel for approximately two decades. It has recently been acquired by the Ballantrae Hotel Group who are currently ensuring the accommodation reflects the prestigious setting.

The Ballantrae-Albany is situated in the heart of the city within five minutes walk of Princes Street and is an ideal location for exploring all the historic elements of Scotland's capital city.

The hotel has a mixture of double, twin, single and family rooms - all fitted out to exacting, deluxe standards. All have en suite facilities.
