This area is famous for its stunning sunsets, magnificent seascapes and pretty unspoilt hamlets, all untouched by time. The cottage sleeps up to four people with one double room and one twin room.
All fuel and electricity included in the price.
Free internet access available in the property.
The surrounding countryside is a haven for wildlife and is a birdwatchers paradise. A recorded site for Corncrakes is directly opposite the cottage and the sea eagles at Waternish are two of only forty-two pairs in Scotland. Golden eagles are also in the area and local buzzards soar overhead.
In the nearby traditional fishing village of Stein there are local crafts and an excellent seafood restaurant with a friendly village pub, which also serves food - being the oldest pub on Skye it is full of character.
Boat trips run from stein on the Elena-C to Neist point and Waternish point to view the whales and seals that frequent these waters. For the more adventurous who like to get away from it all, it is possible to become a 'castaway' for a day on the nearby island of Islay.
There is a wealth of activities on the doorstep, hill walking, climbing, sailing, cycling and nature trails are all regular pastimes. The local riding stables offer superb pony trekking over open moors and hills for beginners and experienced riders. There is even a local diving centre based in Stein which offers professional diving trips to explore various shipwrecks and the crystal clear waters teaming with marine life. Cycling and forest walks abound. Enjoy a bike ride direct from the cottage through pretty forest tracks to the nearby Greshornish hotel for lunch. The owner of the cottage has provided mountain bikes free for guests to use.
The area is steeped in history. Explore the ruins of nearby Trumpan Church - the site of a battle between the MacDonalds and MacLeods - visit a ruined village, ancient brochs or head to Waternish point and visit the lighthouse to experience the dramatic seascape across to Lewis and Harris.
Woodburn Cottage is bright and spacious with beautifully co-ordinated rooms and picture windows which maximise the amazing seaviews across the minch, it offers a superb base from which to enjoy the unique, timeless and unspoilt Waternish peninsula and the whole of the beautiful Isle of Skye.
Prices - £200 - £350 per week. Please e-mail or call for availability.
