Boat trips run from stein on the Elena-C to Neist point and Waternish point to view the whales and seals that frequent these waters. For the more adventurous who like to get away from it all, it is possible to become a 'castaway' for a day on the nearby island of Islay.

The local riding stables offer superb pony trekking over open moors and hills for beginners and experienced riders. There is even a local diving centre based in Stein which offers professional diving trips to explore various shipwrecks and the crystal clear waters teaming with marine life. The owner of the cottage has provided mountain bikes free for guests to use.
