Ardshellach was built in 1971 by the present owners on a raised lochside glacial plateau, which provides both house and garden with sweeping and elevated views over Loch Etive, Ben Cruachan, Ben Bhreac and rolling farmland. Being only 7 miles from Oban, it is centrally placed for an exceptional range of West Highland holiday activities and some of Scotland's grandest scenery.

The secluded, half-acre garden consists of lawn, a shrubbery, ornamental and native trees and a mass of species narcissus which flower from March to May. An old, rambling drystone wall, defining south and east boundaries, forms a delightful backdrop to bluebells and primroses in springtime. The sheltered suntrap terrace, whose wall is planted with flowering climbers, has teak garden furniture for alfresco meals.

Ardshellach was architect-designed, and purpose-built for great holidays. It is light, sunny and spacious, attractively furnished in country style and very well equipped and maintained. Much thought has gone into the details that are so important to a holiday. These include excellent central heating, with each room controlled by its own separate thermostat, a fantastic kitchen, 2 bathrooms, good drying facilities, a separate laundry room, electric blankets in the main bedrooms, and duvets of differing weight and fillings, from goosedown to polyester, or blankets, to suit individual preferences. The bright, comfortable sitting room has extensive windows - and binoculars - to take advantage of the views, and provides a comprehensive collection of books on Scotland as well as lots of maps, guidebooks and games.
