Nearby Lockerbie has a main line railway station with direct services to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the South. Also close by, the former spa town of Moffat enjoys a wide range of shops, pubs and award winning restaurants. Perfect for getting away from it all, the surrounding area has activities for everyone, from mountain biking and hill walking on our estate and in the Ae Forest (part of the 7Stanes), to fishing and stalking and enjoying a round of golf on numerous local courses. Tennis court available in the gardens of Raehills. Horse riding and sailing are also available locally. On wet days, for the kids there's pottery painting nearby, trips to DG One, a new leisure centre, and visiting various play centres. History lovers will be at home in Burns and Reivers country, close to many sites of historical interest including Caerlaverock and Drumlanrig Castles.

The Auld Bothy Cottage is very much a romantic retreat, delightfully situated within the stunning grounds of historic Raehills, home to Lord & Lady Johnstone, this ecologically friendly cottage has been beautifully restored to provide superb self catering accommodation. The cottage is approached off the private mile long drive of Raehills, beside the walled garden, with beautiful views of the river Kinnel, and enjoys a peaceful and idyllic location. Guests are encouraged to treat the exclusive parkland and gardens of Raehills as their own and to explore and enjoy them.
Auld Bothy Cottage has a private driveway and parking and barbecue patio and terrace to enjoy the amazing view.
Traditional front door opens into the hallway with cloakroom and utilities which includes washing machine and tumble dryer, the oak floor continues through to a spacious open plan kitchen/dining/Sitting room with a wood burning stove.
The beautiful oak staircase leads you up to the pretty bedroom with king size bed. From here you can enjoy lovely views down to the river. There is a large en-suite bathroom with rolled top bath and separate shower.
This property has the benefit of an air sourced heat pump which feeds the under floor heating and hot water, which keeps the cottage cosy at all times

Guests are encouraged to treat the exclusive parkland and gardens of Raehills as their own and to explore and enjoy them. Auld Laundry Cottage has a private driveway with ample parking and secure garden. Barbecue patio catching evening sun.
Traditional front door opens into oak floored hallway with cloakroom and oak staircase. Sitting room with oak floor catching morning/afternoon sun to left of front door with 3 large windows and wood burning stove. The kitchen/ dining room catching morning sun to right of front door with wall to wall oak units and flagstone floor. Back door in kitchen opens into secure garden.
Upstairs: 2 doubles/ 1 twin (can be king) bedroom, all with windows and oak floors. Tiled bathroom with twin sinks and power shower over bath.
Oil fired under floor heating throughout keeps this property cosy at all times. Walls covered in allergy free, breathable paint. Secure out-house with boiler, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer, and sink with pressure hose for hosing muddy boots and bicycles and drying wet clothes.

Step out of the front door and into our private parkland, with beautiful walks, in the peaceful countryside. We have an abundance of fallow and roe deer, peacocks and red squirrels. A tranquil retreat. A joy also for those with 4 legged friends, with woods to explore and lakes to swim.
For garden enthusiast or those wishing a peaceful seat guests are free to wander and relax in our pretty walled garden.
For those who like to fish, you can either fish on the Estate in the Kinnel river or on our stretch of the river Annan, with salmon, trout and grayling fishing free to all guests.
Everything is included in the rental price - heating, electricity and logs for the stove. Bed linen and towels are provided.
Pets are welcome at £15 per dog per week, a bed and dishes can be provided on request.
The self-catering cottage at Raehills is rented out year round. Change over day is Sunday, check in from 4pm, checkout by 10am. Short breaks are welcome.
