Aurora Bed And Breakfast

Overview

Aurora is an award winning, modern, eco-friendly B&B in a stunning location providing:

Really comfortable, king & super-king sized beds (no footboards) in spacious en-suite rooms.

A welcoming, peaceful, well equipped home with much thought given to guest's needs & comfort.

Free WiFi, drying room, guests own first floor lounge with wood burner, handmade soap & locally sourced food.

Kind thoughtful hospitality.

Booking direct with us will cost you less - there is a link above, to our website

At the top of a 4-star Visit Scotland award, the emphasis here is on thoughtful, consistent comfort & quality throughout. Sustainability is a key part of our philosophy: we are part of Sawday's ethical collection, hold a GOLD Green Tourism award  and were awarded a coveted Highlands & Islands "Green" award in 2010.

As part of our green tourism policy, our minimum stay for advanced bookings is 2 nights.

The house has a restful contemporary decor, complimented with tasteful art & crafts - much local. All 3 guest bedrooms are ensuite with king or superking sized (zip & link) beds and have mountain & sea views. Meals are in the architect designed, floor to ceiling glazed dining room at the communal table, where you can enjoy good company, the island view & maybe catch a glimpse of the white-tailed sea-eagles or pine marten.

Bedrooms are well appointed - 1 with a King Size bed, 2 with SuperKing size (zip & link) beds that split to provide 2 full size single beds. 2 of our rooms can accommodate a 3rd person in a full size single. All our beds are extremely good quality & very comfortable.

Bed and Breakfast is after all about a comfortable bed and a really good breakfast!

Breakfast is taken in the architect designed dining room with floor to ceiling glazing to take in mountain & sea views. You can take advantage of a traditional cooked breakfast or lighter fare with homemade preserves and bread, all whilst admiring the fantastic view. Venison sausages and Haggis are made by our butcher in Lochcarron. Salmon is smoked in the village by Loch Torridon Smokehouse. We are passionate about providing tasty home cooking from local produce and make the bread, yoghurt, jams and marmalade's.

Guest facilities include wireless internet access, drying room, mini library - local books, laptop with broadband access, folder of walks and bikes for loan. The 1st floor guest living room has a "to die for" panoramic view with large TV and a good DVD collection for wet days. Great care is taken to ensure guests enjoy the area with daily detailed weather forecasts and judicious help selecting activities.

We are non-smoking. Children over 12 years old are welcome. Pets are welcome to stay in your car, not in house.

"A wonderful 5 days, surpassing all our expectations. Perfect B & B - best we have ever stayed in. It has been a joy & delight & we will return. Thank you."

Close to Inverewe & Attadale Gardens, Lochcarron weavers, Carron Pottery, Eilean Donan Castle, Strome castle ruins. The Isle of Skye is not so far away with Tallisker whisky distillery. You can visit the ancient Brochs at Glen Elg, use the little ferry and still "go over the sea to Skye". A trip over the Bealach na Ba to explore Applecross?

Shieldaig is a 5 star village only one & half hours drive from Inverness, (single track road the last ½ hour). A hidden gem in the Highlands, with a spectacular location nestled amongst the Torridon Mountains, sitting right on the West Coast. A perfect base for exploring Wester Ross; with a shop & pub in walking distance. The Munro's of Beinn Eighe, Liathach, & Alligin; Lochs Torridon & Maree are on our doorstep. We have maps, books, walking information, provide a daily weather forecast and offer suggestions to help you get the most out of your time here.
