    Dating back to 1625, the family-run Balcary Bay Hotel is a charming country house located on the beautiful shores of Balcary Bay, near Castle Douglas.

    Originally owned by a shipping firm, the hotel retains much of its original character while providing the best of modern amenities for all guests. Balcary Bay Hotel has been lovingly refurbished to offer 20 en suite bedrooms, many with magnificent views over the bay and each boasting TV, radio and tea and coffee facilities.     From the nearest information centre:- From Castle Douglas Tourist Information Centre leave town along the A710 sign posted to Auchencairn.

    Getting there by railway:- From Dumfries Station it is a 25 mile car journey/ taxi journey along the A711 Dalbeattie/ Kirkcudbright Road.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Glasgow it is a 100 mile car journey. From the M76 take the A701 to Dumfries and then A711 to Dalbeattie/ Kirkcudbright.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Stranraer it is a 70 mile car journey along the A75 to Castle Douglas and then the A710 to Auchencairn.
