Balcary Mews Cottage is superbly situated on the shores of Balcary Bay on the beautiful, unspoiled Solway Coast. Comfortable and furnished to an exceptionally high standard throughout, this self-catering cottage is fully central heated and double glazed. The cottage sleeps four guests in two spacious and elegant bedrooms while the living/dining room provides a real home from home with comfortable sofas, a traditional fireplace and TV, DVD and CD player. Outside a patio terrace with picnic table offers an ideal area for enjoying delicious meals created in the well designed, fully fitted kitchen.

Overlooking the bay with Hestan Island to the fore, and the Galloway Hills and Solway Coast beyond; this cottage boasts some of the most fantastic views in region. Ideally placed for touring, birdwatching, fishing, riding and walking - a spectacular coastal walk starts right from the doorstep. Spend your days exploring the romantic seascapes over the Mull of Galloway and walking amongst the Moffat Hills, taking in fantastic scenery and abundant wildlife.

Nearby, Castle Douglas is the perfect place for foodies with over 50 food and drink retailers including a family-run brewery and a number of fantastic delicatessens and restaurants. Golfers will also be delighted by the location, with many challenging golf courses within easy drive such as the 9-hole parkland course at Castle Douglas and the 18-hole championship course at Brighouse Bay Golf Club.

Public Transport Directions

From the nearest information centre:- From Castle Douglas take the rear exit out of the car park and turn right down Queen Street. Take the 2nd left out of Castle Douglas at the T junction, then turn left at the crossroads and right onto the A711. At Auchencairn turn immediately left over the bridge and follow Shore Road to the car park then turn left under the archway into the courtyard of Balcary Mews.

Getting there by ferry:- From Stranraer take the A75 east out of Stranraer for approximately 60 miles then turn right into Castle Douglas. Turn right past Carlingwark Loch and take the 1st right at the T junction, left at the crossroads and right onto the A711 into Auchencairn. Take a left along Shore Road immediately after the bridge at the public car park, left through the archway into courtyard.
