Balgonar Cottage

Overview

The village of Saline with a shop, post office and church is a mile away.

This is the ideal spot for a family holiday, with plenty to do closeby as well as being exceptionally well situated for touring Scotland.

Golfers are sure to enjoy a stay here with at least 40 golf courses, including St Andrews and Gleneagles, within easy reach.Scenic walks with spectacular views are right on our doorstep.Horse Riding can be arranged just 3-miles away. The beautiful sandy beaches and the charming traditional fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife are less than an hour away, while Stirling and the Trossach hills are a similar distance to the West.

Pitlochry and the famous House of Bruar ( commonly known as The "Harrods of the North") are just over an hour's scenic drive up the A9, through the centre of Scotland. For the adventurous spirits why not branch off the A9 to Aberfeldy. Here there are several white-water rafting centres organising exhilarating trips along the wilder stretches of the River Tay.

Our nearest town is Dunfermline, with its restaurants and pubs, Cinema, bowling, swimming, mini golf and a variety of shops. For anything you want to do in Scotland, whether its calm and cultural or active and adventurous, Balgonar Cottage provides a superb location.

Balgonar is a small estate which includes a family-run mixed farm. The owners keep Aberdeen Angus cattle as well as the horses and sheep. It is the perfect spot for walking - whether it's a quiet stroll around the walled garden and the duck pond or a more adventurous hike into the hills. Within an hour of off-road walking you can enjoy some of the finest views in Central Scotland, looking to the Ochils and the distant Wallace Monument.

From the minute you enter Balgonar drive, off a minor country road, the relaxation just sweeps over you. Horses and sheep graze behind the post and rail fence lining the drive on one side. On the other is a semi-wild wooded area. The drive winds round away from the main house and past the old farm steadings. The Cottage is right in front of you.
The traditional stone-built cottage, which is set in its own pretty enclosed garden, boasts unusually spacious accommodation all on one level. It has a wood burning stove in the sitting room, as well as an oil-fired central heating system and double-glazing throughout, making it warm and comfortable whatever the season.

Uninterrupted views of the rolling hillside are enjoyed from the sitting room and master bedroom. Deer and the occasional wily fox venture from the glen in the quiet of the early morning and cattle and ponies graze the hills.

We are here to help make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Even before you arrive , we can take delivery of your groceries, and put things in the fridge/freezer. So why not pre-order with Tesco, Asda or another store, and walk into well stocked kitchen"..."..."..."...you only have to ask!
