Ballat Smithy Cottage is a charming, high quality, two bedroom cottage sympathetically created from original workshops of Ballat Smithy, built at the end of the 18th Century as one of the smithies for the Buchanan estates of the Duke of Montrose.
This sunny south facing cottage is ideally situated midway between the tranquil east shores of Loch Lomond and the majestic grandeur of the Trossachs, on the edge of the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, with views of the Campsie Fells and the surrounding fields and woods.
Furnished and equipped to the highest standard, the cottage is a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. Argyll, Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh and Perth are all within easy reach.
Price includes electricity, linen and towels, and guests are supplied with a welcome pack of Scottish, Fair Trade and home made provisions.
Ballat Smithy Cottage is ideally situated for exploring central Scotland: Stirling and Glasgow are a half hour drive away, Edinburgh and Perth one hour, and much of Argyll, Perthshire, Ayrshire and South East Scotland are accessible in under two hours. For those who do not wish to venture far there are many wonderful scenic drives close to the cottage.
There is an abundance of walks to suit all abilities and several excellent cycle routes; all popular activities such as fishing, riding, water sports and golf are easily arranged, and there are leisure centres nearby for swimming, etc. The nearest village (2.5 miles) has good pubs and gift shops, while the next nearest (3 miles) has an excellent variety of shops for everything else. Surrounding towns and villages offer a wide variety of places to dine and shop and there are so many attractions and activities to suit all ages that our information books are bursting at the seams.
This is one of the most beautiful and varied parts of Scotland, steeped in history and heritage while at the same time offering innovative and vibrant cultural activities and attractions.
