Balmillig is a friendly relaxing home, set in the heart of Clyde coast resort Helensburgh's leafy conservation area. Balmillig is conveniently close to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park yet just 30 minutes from Glasgow International Airport. Charles Rennie Macintosh's world famous Hill House and Faslane Naval Base are both nearby.
Balmillig is ideally placed for walkers exploring the Three Lochs Way, one of Scotland's Great Trails - it passes our door.
Balmillig offers underfloor heating, excellent spacious showers and comfortable beds in a mixture of twin and double bedded rooms. Free wifi internet access is available. IPads in every room All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, TV and hairdryer, iron, etc.
Enjoy fruit juice, cereals or porridge, fruit, toasted bread, oatcakes, homemade marmalade, and a choice of freshly cooked eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and tattie scones. Have some or all; the choice is yours. Breakfast is served in the conservatory, so while you enjoy your cornflakes you can watch the birds and squirrels enjoying theirs!
Our lounge/conservatory is comfortably furnished and has books and lots of information about the area. There is very pleasant walking immediately around Helensburgh and we are just a few minutes from the National Park boundaries with many more challenging routes and the newly opened Three Lochs Way.
There is plenty of off street parking within the spacious and colourful garden which has a patio area where you can enjoy the summer annuals as well as the varied collection of shrubs, trees and herbaceous perennials selected to support wildlife as well as providing year round fragrance, floral and foliage interest.
Balmillig is within easy walking distance of bus and train services, seafront, park, shops and restaurants. We have a large file with menus for most local restaurants.
To be as 'green' as possible Balmillig is built to top energy conservation standards. The garden is wildlife friendly, we recycle plastics, paper etc., compost kitchen waste and have installed solar powered water heating.
