Yes, the views are breathtaking but more than that, staying at The Barr is like staying at your own small private boutique hotel! With only two rooms, we offer our guests much more than most B&Bs! A little luxury!
The owners look forward to welcoming you to their farmhouse home at The Barr, only seconds off the main road, and awarded a coveted 4 Star Gold Award in their first year and year thereafter from VisitScotland, the only B&B to receive this accolade in the whole of the Dumfries area.
Ease into the “Barr Experience” with a welcoming coffee or tea on arrival accompanied by some delicious home baking served in our guest drawing room and all free of charge. Soak up the ambiance and chat in comfort in front of a roaring log burning stove, as you take in the views all the way across the valley from the patio windows.
The guest accommodation is very private, at one end of the property, with its own entrance and keys, so guests may enjoy the independence of coming and going as they wish. Each bedroom has its own facilities.
In the mornings, indulge in a traditional full Scottish breakfast or select something from our specials menu - at no extra charge and all served at a time of your choosing. The aroma of the freshly made pancakes served as a stack with fruit, cream and maple syrup usually makes guests order it again! Few can resist trying the scrambled eggs with flakes of smoked salmon and chives a second time! All breakfasts are freshly prepared with the finest ingredients sourced locally where possible and include fresh fruit salad and squeezed orange juice (both prepared each breakfast time); toast/homemade Irish brown seed bread (everyone wants the recipe!); a selection of home-made preserves; tea; herbal teas; and freshly brewed coffee. We are pleased to suit particular dietary needs. The Barr is located within an 8 minute drive from the 7stanes mountain biking centre at the
