The Family History Research Centre and the Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura also offer a great day out while nearby, Dalbeattie has an excellent museum and is home to one of the world-class 7stanes mountain biking centres.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Stranraer take A75 to Dumfries, turn off A75 at Castle Douglas, then onto Dalbeattie from here take A711 towards Dumfries, 6 miles from Dalbeattie 1 mile past Kirkgunzeon village, turn off, caravan park sign posted on left hand side of bend, turn by lane towards pink and white cottage.
