'A rural idyll' 'Like living in a landscape painting'
Richard and Marion welcome you to their wonderfully situated, extremely comfortable farmhouse with great Scottish breakfasts!
Excellent walking and cycling from the door and only an hour from Edinburgh or Newcastle. Nestling in the beautiful Rule Water valley, Billerwell Farm provides a perfect haven for walkers, cyclists, explorers - or those seeking comfort, peace and quiet. Its wooded valley is rich in wildlife with over 200 species of birds, red squirrels, badgers, deer, wildflowers and even its own butterfly - The Bedrule Brocade.
The farm's 350 acres run from the Rule Water, where trout fishing is available to guests, to the top of the dramatic Ruberslaw - one of the highest peaks in the Scottish Border with amazing views. There are numerous walks around the farm, which is stocked with our pedigree Limousin cows and Texel sheep; we can highlight the best routes and even provide you with a 4 legged guide! The Borders Abbey Way is close by and walks and trails (including mountain biking) are in the nearby forests of Hyndlee and Swinnie. Fishing in our small loch is also available.
Bonchester Bridge, 2 miles away, has a busy, welcoming country pub serving good meals. All the Border towns and attractions, including 21 golf courses are within easy reach, including the stunning Northumberland coast and Alnwick Castle and Garden, only 1 hour away. We are also within an easy drive of both Edinburgh and Newcastle-upon-Tyne - so a trip to the city too is quite easy.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome and dogs beds are provided. An exercise area is available and they can be taken on most of the walks on leads.
The farmhouse has 3 luxurious double en-suite bedroom (one with twin beds), a comfortable lounge with log fire and a dining room with panoramic view towards the wildlife pond, hills and river. There are high quality king size beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy towels and under floor heating in all the bathrooms. The delicious and varied breakfast menus are sourced from local produce.
Guests are welcome to relax in the garden and enjoy the peace and serenity of the valley and enjoy the variety of birds and mammals including our herons, ravens and occasionally roe deer by the riverside.
