3-bedroom selfcatering Norwegian-built log cabin. Sleeps up to 6. Situated in the popular seaside village of Kippford, on the sheltered Colvend Coast. Walking. Beaches. Outdoor Activities. Mountain Biking (7 Stanes). Dogs welcome
Set in an exclusive small private development overlooking a charming lochan with lily pads and dragonflies, Birchlea Lodge is a stylish, modern pine Forest Lodge. Kippford is a pretty former fishing village - now home to an active yachting & watersports fraternity - with 2 good pubs within walking distance, a 9-hole golf course and coastal paths to beaches & rock pools. Rockcliffe, with its sandy beach, is a walk away across National Trust lands, which join the 2 villages. With views to the islands in the bay & backed by forest, the Jubilee Path is celebrated as one of the most pleasant walks in Dumfries & Galloway.
Mountain biking (five of the 7 Stanes are in the area - Dalbeattie's trails are within 500m of Birchlea); golf courses; wildlife such the area's iconic red squirrels and red kites; historical sites such as Threave and Caerlaverock Castles; ice-cream farms & chocolate factory; outdoor adventure centres and independent shopping in local 'Food Town', Castle Douglas and the 'Artists' Town', Kirkcudbright, all provide plenty of days out. Sandy beaches at nearby Sandyhills and Rockcliffe are perfect for bucket & spade days or long walks with the dogs. Kippford's 'Shell beach' is perfect for 'littlies' and is quite unusual, being formed from thousands (or millions...?) of white cockle shells.
Or if watching the world and the wildlife go by, Birchlea's sheltered verandas are the perfect place to kick back & relax.
Birchlea is spacious, well-euipped for self-catering with a large dining table and open-plan fully modern kitchen, and equally suits a family group of different ages or a couple seeking a relaxing break.
