Birchwood Cottage

Overview

Situated on the edge of the village with lovely views to the Cairngorm Mountains, Birchwood Cottage sleeps 4 people, is light and airy, but has a wood burning stove to keep you snug on cold winter nights! Well situated for hillwalking, skiing or sightseeing, you will have a comfortable stay in our delightful cottage. Birchwood Cottage has recently been completely rebuilt to modern standards. It is a traditional design externally with larch cladding and slate roof, the accommodation, which sleeps 4, being all on one level.

Internally the Cottage has a lounge/dining room with 5 windows maximising the daylight dawn to dusk. The lounge has a wood burning stove on a slate hearth.

A bright modern kitchen leads off the lounge with plenty of cupboard space, washing machine, fridge, electric oven with ceramic hob and microwave.
There are two bedrooms, one double bedded and one twin bedded, both with built in wardrobes.
The bathroom has toilet, washbasin and bath with an over bath electric shower. There is an electric shaver point above the washbasin.

There is electric panel heating, with thermostatic controls, in all rooms. Hot water is provided by an immersion heated hot water tank.
Electricity is provided via a £1 coin fed meter.
Logs and kindling wood are provided at a low cost.

Outside there is a good sized garden which our guests are free to use.
We accept up to two well behaved dogs by prior arrangement.

Braemar is a Highland Village some 58 miles west from Aberdeen and situated at the junction of three beautiful valleys. Through these valleys run the rivers Clunie and Dee. The river Dee is one of Scotland's great salmon rivers and it runs through glorious scenery on its way past Braemar Castle and on the way to Balmoral Castle and giving the area its name of Royal Deeside.

Above the valleys rise some of Scotland's highest mountains. Within a short distance there are some 20 or so Munro's - hills with peaks over 3000' - and Braemar is the starting point for those wishing to 'bag' (climb) Ben McDhui, the second highest mountain in the UK.

To the south of Braemar village, Glenshee Ski Centre, Scotland's largest such centre, is only 8 miles away.
Fishing, stalking and pony trekking can be arranged locally and must be pre-booked.
Well situated for all these activities you will have a comfortable stay in our delightful cottage.
