Bracadale Holiday Cottages are three purpose-built self-catering cottages. They are sited mid-Skye, up a private drive in two to three acres of landscaped grounds.
There are fine ever-changing sea views from all cottages, over Loch Beag and Loch Harport. Each cottage has one twin, one double and one single bedroom and will sleep five. There is a well-equipped and cheerful dining/kitchen, a comfortable lounge with Freesat and a DVD player and a woodburning stove (starter load of logs provided)and a modern bathroom with an electric shower and a bath. Secure storage for bicycles is provided. Free Wifi is provided.
Where are we?
On the heavily indented West coast of Skye, within walking distance of the village of Struan. Here you will find both a general store and friendly book shop and tearoom with window tables offering panoramic views of the Cuillin mountains. Just the other side of Struan there is a well preserved Iron Aged broch - very atmospheric.
Situated half way up the island, we are equidistant from two of Skye's major centres.
Nine miles to the east, over the 'hill-road', is Skye's main village, Portree, with all of its shopping and dining facilities. Nine miles to the north and you reach Dunvegan with its world-famous castle, seat of the Clan MacLeod. Apart from the castle and grounds, boat trips to the seal colonies are a great attraction here.
The Cuillins are a short drive south, as is Talisker distillery and visitor centre. There are of course, endless coastal and hill walks and stunning vistas within the immediate area of the cottages.
If you like fine dinning, there is an excellent three-rosette restaurant ten minutes away at the Ullinish Lodge (lovely for afternoon tea). And of course there is the world-renowned Three Chimneys restaurant just beyond Dunvegan.
Visitors frequently praise this central location because they can explore the whole island without too much driving.
What do we offer?
Easy to run, attractive and comfortable cottages ensure that our visitors can fully enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the island.
There is electric heating throughout and a wood burner for cosy evenings. The bathrooms are modern. There is a bath for relaxing in after a day on the hills, and an electric shower over the bath too. In the kitchen/dining rooms, there are microwave ovens, washing machines, tumble dryers, full size fridge freezers and dishwashers. We believe your holiday should be no more labour-intensive than your home!
There are spacious garden grounds to sunbathe or play football in. Each cottage has a sturdy picnic table for breakfast or dinner al fresco and there is a barbecue area
So whether you're hill-walking, Munro-bagging, bird-watching, fishing, exploring abandoned villages or just chilling out on this beautiful island of dramatic coastal and mountain scenery, you will find our cottages an ideal choice from which to enjoy the remarkable wild landscape of Skye.
