Enjoy some of the region's glorious sandy beaches which are within walking distance and fish for trout on your own loch. Stabling and grazing are available if you want to bring your own horse or if you would prefer to book a lesson at the local riding school, it's only five minutes away. Just round the corner, you'll find fantastic golf at Colvend, a popular 18-hole course, which is challenging and offers fantastic views, while another three courses are within half an hour travelling time. Situated on the coast, Bracken Cottage has the advantage of being in the countryside but close to nearby towns - Dalbeattie and its magnificent forest is just 5 miles away and historic Dumfries is only 18 miles.
