Brinkies Guest House
Presenting spectacular views over Graemsay, Hoy, Hoy Sound and Scapa Flow and Flotta; Brinkies Guest House is also surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. For nature lovers early Spring sees the return to the pond of hundreds of frogs making their way to where they were brought up. Returning home on a dark March night can be la bit of an obstacle course dodging these frogs heading to the pond – I’m sure they must have sat nav?!! Late Spring sees the meadow pond at Brinkies Guest House full of Frog Spawn and eventually thousands of Tadpoles turn into Common Frogs. A pair of Mallard Ducks return every year and in June/July their healthy brood use the pond as their favourite play area. The short eared Owl is often seen in the evening on the hunt for its supper. An elegant Grey Heron also frequents the pond at various times throughout the year. With many species of flowers within walking distance, it’s a botanist’s paradise. For the photographer there is an array of subject matter.
