Broomhall Castle

Broomhall Castle sits in a fine position on the slopes of the Ochil Hills overlooking Menstrie Village in Clackmannnshire. The views to the South East and West are extensive as far as the Firth of Forth, Stirling and Beyond.

Broomhall Castle was purchased by the current family in December 2003 and is now operating as a hotel & restaurant. The resident owners assure you of a warm and friendly stay in a unique and relaxed environment.

Broomhall Castle is centrally located and ideal for touring with access to Stirling, only 5 miles; Edinburgh via the M9 (37 miles) and Glasgow via the A80 (28 miles).

Broomhall Castle has a no smoking policy throughout and no pets. An outstanding Baronial Mansion, Broomhall Castle was constructed in 1874 by John Foukes and Frances Mackison for James Johnstone and used as a private home until the 1930's. At that time it became a boys preparatory school but was burnt down in 1942. It long stood empty but was restored in the 1980's.

The driveway leads through entrance gate piers up a sloping drive to a car parking area to the east of the house and a walkway to the front of the property. We have ample parking for 50 cars.

A lift provides access to al floors and we have ramped access to building should it be required.

We have ten en-suite bedrooms all renovated by the present owners to a very high standard.

All ten rooms are double rooms with one room having two King Size beds making it usable as a twin or family room as required.

Two of the rooms have Super King Size four poster beds and are ideal for those special breaks or wedding night stays.

Most rooms have exposed stone walls and some rooms have attractive oriel and turret features adding considerably to their charm.

Broomhall Castle has a Civil Ceremony license and can cater for weddings of any size (more than one required!) upto a maximum number of 100 guests for the ceremony and meal, increasing to 150 guests for the evening reception.

We realise how important a day this is to you and rather than having set wedding packages we prefer to sit down and discuss your wedding on an individual basis and find out exactly what you want from your special day.

Please feel free to contact us if you are thinking about getting married and we wil be happy to give you an indication of our charges and discuss available dates.
