Brougham House B&B

Overview

The house dates back to 1820 and access to the 1st and 2nd floor bedrooms is via a staircase within a turret. We have a selection of rooms available, ranging in size, price and type and we offer additional services, such as the provision of packed lunches and the supply of hire bikes.

All our rooms are furnished to a high standard and include armchairs and dressers that double up as small desks. All the rooms are en-suite and have LCD TVs with Freeview and DVD players. Free WIFI internet is also available to all our guests.

Although Brougham House lies only 1 minute's walk from the High Street with its shops and restaurants, it is in a quiet side street, and the rooms at the rear of the house look out over the garden and the rooftops of Hawick with views of the hills beyond. Limited parking is available in front of the house, whilst a free public car park lies no more then 2 minutes' walk away. Rooms

The room types are:

Large Double

You'll find a large double bed, luxury en-suite bathroom with two person bath and shower. All our doubles look out onto the rear garden, and have a fine view over the Hawick town centre rooftops and to the hills beyond. Our large double rooms offer plenty of opportunity to fully relax in style.

Twin/Double

Our twin/double rooms all have en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower. The rooms on the upper floors and the ground floor double look out over the garden and town. Both the ground floor rooms offer disabled/wheelchair access (available from August 2010). Please note that due to the restrictions within the building, the access to the ground floor rooms is limited and so the rooms may not be suitable for all. Please ring before booking to talk through your requirements.

Single

Our single rooms are spacious and have en-suite shower rooms. Both are located on the first floor at the front of the building.

Two Room Suites

The layout of Brougham House allows some rooms to be booked as suites. Each two room suite has a large double and a twin room, each with their own en-suite bathroom. The suites overlook the garden and out over the rooftops of the town. The suites are offered with a single key to lock the main door tot eh suite, or with individual room keys.

Family/Disabled Suite (available from August 2010)

Our ground floor (wheelchair accessible) suite offers one double and one twin room with a shared bathroom. Please note: We have tried our best to make the ground floor suite accessible to wheelchairs, but please check our Disability Access page for more information and telephone us before booking to ensure the suite is suitable for your requirements.

Four Room Suite

It is possible to book the whole of the first floor to make a four room suite. This suite offers a luxury double, a twin and two single rooms. The large double has a luxury en-suite bathroom, the twin has a standard en-suite bathroom, while the singles both have en-suite shower rooms.

Prices are from £ 30.00 per person per night.

Disability Access

We are pleased to have a ground floor suite that can be accessed by wheelchair. Restrictions resulting from the width of the doors and limitation of space in certain places means the suite is not suitable for certain wheelchairs, however we have done our utmost to maximise the space that is available. Please ring before booking to confirm that we can meet your requirements.

Parking for wheelchair access is directly outside the building at ground floor level, while the ground floor suite offers two rooms with an en-suite bathroom with shower as well as having digital TV and DVD and WIFI internet access.

Environmental and Ethical Policies

At Brougham House we pride ourselves on doing our bit to help the environment and our suppliers, whether local or further afield.

Our breakfast food is locally sourced where possible, while all teas and coffees served at breakfast and provided in the rooms are Fairtrade.

The B&B is lit almost entirely with high power LED bulbs, providing the equivalent lighting of Halogen bulbs, but using less power than ‘energy saving’ compact fluorescents.
