    From Wick take the A99 north and continue to John O'Groats, on entering the village and passing the Post Office take the first on your left A836 to Thurso. Follow signs to Gills Ferry, turn left at first road after the harbour.

    Follow the A836 towards John O'Groats. Pass the sign for Gills, turn right at the red phone box just situated before Gills Harbour. Burnside Cottage is the last house on the left.
