Heating, electricity, linen, towels, hot water and use of washing machine included in rent. Pets welcome.
The West Side has the most hours of sunshine particularly in summer. The area offers many miles of hill and coastal walks, excellent bird watching and seal and otter spotting. Great for angling and some fascinating historical and archaeological sites.
The coastline varies from dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches to long voes which extend far into the green croftland and heathery hills.
The West Side is a largely unspoilt corner of Shetland, with a traditional crofting community. It is also one of the centres of the seafood industry with fish farms, mussel rafts and some small inshore fishing boats.
The village of Walls makes a good base for exploring the West Side. There is a ferry service from Walls to the Island of Foula, location for Michael Powell's film "The Edge Of the World" made in 1936.
A network of well maintained side roads lead the visitor to quiet corners and some of the most beautiful and peaceful landscapes in Shetland.
