A Family Home
There is a unique quality about Cambo, home of the Erskine family since 1688, that entices guests back year after year. The family welcome you to enjoy the comfort and spaciousness of their home, absorb the beauty of the gardens and woodland walks and unwind in the informal, restful atmosphere that makes Cambo so special.
Cambo House, an impressive Victorian country house, built in 1881, lies at the heart of a 1200 acre country estate and a stone's throw from the sea.
Whether you seek a peaceful retreat or an active break, Cambo has so much to offer that you can create the perfect holiday without leaving the estate. From the cosy, quirky Attic to the sumptuous West Wing Cambo House offers living in "the grand style", but with modern day comforts. The accommodation in the house has been transformed over the years to its present comfortable state, with many of its original features retained as reminders of the past.
Cambo offers a unique opportunity for groups of up to 42 to enjoy a historic house experience at a sensible cost.
Planning your holiday at Cambo
Cambo is an ideal base for golf, family holidays, walking or relaxing. The estate has renowned walled gardens, woodland walks, the acclaimed Kingsbarns Golf Links, spacious lawns, trampoline and swings, a tennis court and is only 5 minutes walk from the seaside. Pets welcome.
East and West Wing (sleeps 8/10 each)
East and West Wings making up the whole of the second floor overlook the gardens and parkland and when the interconnecting door is unlocked can provide accommodation for 16 in gloriously spacious rooms furnished with Victorian beds and furniture. Each wing has an authentic four-poster bed.
Upper and Lower Servants (sleeps 4 each)
As the names suggest, these apartments were originally home to Cambo's servants; male servants in the Lower Servants on the first floor and the females in the Upper Servants on the second floor. These apartments provide basically the same accommodation, with the Lower Servants being on a somewhat grander scale. Rich colours on the walls are complemented by rich fabrics at the windows and enhanced by some magnificent antique furniture.
Attic Apartment (sleeps 5/6)
Situated on the top floor, this compact apartment is certainly not for the weak-hearted, but its interesting combed ceilings with dormer windows, very splendid Victorian lavatory (with up-to-date plumbing) and wonderful row of bells in the kitchen give it an interesting and individual character.
Garden and Orchard Apartment (sleeps 2)
Home to the Greig family (Cambo's Head Gardeners, father and son) from 1912 to 2000, the Gardeners Wing now provides two delightful apartments, each sleeping two.
The Garden apartment has the same aspect over the parkland as Upper Servants and West Wing. The apartment is designed for two people and consists of a double room with ensuite shower room and a sitting room with galley kitchen.
The Orchard apartment is designed for two people and consists of a twin bedded room with ensuite shower room and a sitting room with galley kitchen.
Mid, East and West Cottage (sleeps 2 or 4)
Originally traditional farm cottages, Mid, East and West Cottages are situated a few hundred yards from the main gate to the estate at right angles to the Crail to St Andrews road.
The three cottages enjoy a peaceful view over fertile farmland and share a wonderful South-facing patio. These cottages are particularly popular with walkers and dog owners as farm tracks lead down to the shore to meet up with the Fife coastal path.
The Mid Cottage (sleeps 2) and the East and West Cottage (sleeps 4 each) have recently had a complete makeover.
