Castlehill, Mains Road, Ballantrae, Girvan, Ayrshire, KA26 0NJ

Castlehill (sleeps 10) is a recently refurbished house overlooking the river on a quiet lane at the edge of the west coast seaside village of Ballantrae in South Ayrshire.

Castlehill is situated along a quiet country lane, within quarter of a mile from the sea, backed by farm land and looking South over the River Stinchar to the surrounding South Ayrshire countryside and Galloway Hills beyond. With marked river, woodland, seaside and farm walks direct from the door, the properties are all situated just off the Ayrshire Coastal Path, -Scotland’s long distance walking route along one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. The coastline is crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of Ailsa Craig and the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde. The area is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, roe deer, otters and seals and is a haven for bird watchers on the moors and estuary.

Originally built in the late 1930s when Ballantrae was a thriving holiday village Castlehill has been recently modernised to an incredibly high standard, it retains some of the thirties architectural features and has some simply stunning sea and river views.

The house has been furnished with great taste and style in modern colours with an eclectic mix of old and new. The fabulous kitchen has granite worktops, comfy sofa, doors to a small patio with gorgeous views, two dishwashers, two ovens, large gas hob, American fridge/freezer, TV and a dining table for twelve making it a wonderful spot for entertaining, cooking, dining, relaxing and having fun.  The large sitting room has a perfect atmosphere with really comfortable sofas, TV, log fire and a selection of books and games as well as wonderful views.  The bedrooms are extremely comfortable with White Company linen and plenty of homely touches. There is a large terraced garden with shrubs and lawn and stunning views from the paved area above the cottage.

We take great pride in our cottages and all are extremely comfortable and make a great base for exploring the wonderful countryside. They have been finished to a high standard and are furnished with an eclectic mix of old and new and all of them have plenty of homely touches making them feel like 'a home from home'. The cottages are dog-friendly as well as the fabulous beaches nearby. Ballantrae is a great place to holiday, it is an extremely friendly village with a shop, pub and a few cafes all within walking distance.

Castlehill is the perfect holiday cottage for a group of friends and family.
