    Our home is modern, comfortable and designed so that the magnificent views can be seen from the front of the house.

    Guests can relax in the TV lounge, main lounge, vestibule or the sun room. All bedrooms have access to fast WiFi/Broadband .
    We have a large collection of books and DVDs that guests are welcome to enjoy.

    Our new hot tub & sauna is now available. The house and tub room overlooks one of the most beautiful North Island panoramas in Orkney, Castlehill has remarkable views of 10 islands and the famous Eynhallow Sound, where the spectacular roust - runs with each incoming tide.

    Castlehill offers visitors to Orkney a unique location to relax and enjoy a peaceful rural location within a few miles of the famous World Heritage Site in Orkney. Evie Sands curve in the bay towards the taing at Gurness, where the ancient Broch is a delight to explore.

    We are only 20 minutes away from Kirkwall and Stromness, these two main towns, picturesque in their own right, have an abundance of shopping with high quality produce. As well as crafts & art, there are many historical sites, culture and leisure activities to suit a wide range of interests close by.

    We can provide high quality evening meals and packed lunches by arrangement. We always use home baked and local fresh produce in season and have filtered mineral rich fresh water from our own well.

    Castlehill is within a short distance of some of the best lochs for trout fishing in Scotland or why not try your hand at sea fishing in the bay. Guides and boats can be hired locally and arranged through Castlehill.

    Road Directions

    From either Kirkwall or Stromness, take A965 to Finstown.
    Turn on to A966 towards Birsay & Evie.

    Pass through Evie Village after the post office (Mistra) for a further ¾ mile.

    Turn on to this road up towards Burgar Hill,.

    Follow the tarmac road up the hill past the farm on the left and round to the right
    Straight on (past the track that turns left up to the RSPB hide) to end approx 200 yds
    Turn left and follow the track up the hill and round the field.

    Castlehill is the first house, with the stepped roofline.

    Getting there by railway:- Nearest rail: Thurso. Scottish mainland. Use link bus to Scrabster ferry port (1mile) and take the Northlink ferry to Stromness. (1.5 hrs)

    Alternative: Aberdeen, Northlink ferry to Kirkwall (6 hrs)

    Getting there by aeroplane:- Flights from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Sumburgh or Aberdeen to Kirkwall Airport. (20 miles from Castlehill)
