Cornhill House Hotel

Overview

A Scottish mansion house designed in the style of an elegant castle by William Leiper, Cornhill House has undergone sensitive and tasteful restoration and conversion to a quality country hotel offering the traveller a peaceful and comfortable haven, resting in beautiful countryside and providing a high standard of accommodation, food and service.

Kames Golf Club is a privately owned 250 acre complex of 2 courses, one of 18 and one of 9 holes. It is open all year round and the hotel has an arrangement with the club (approx. 15 mins drive) for guests seeking golf facilities.

The local municipal course, Biggar Golf Club, is also available by arrangement with reception.

The River Clyde is stocked with Grayling and Brown Trout. Permits can be obtained by arrangement. The river is fished from the bank opposite the Hotel.

New Lanark World Heritage Centre (30 mins) - Surrounded by beautiful native woodland and close to the falls of the Clyde, the 200 year old cotton mill of New Lanark has been saved for future generations as a living community and lasting monument to Robert Owen, mill owner and social pioneer.

Traquair House (30 mins) - This amazing mansion is beyond Peebles down the River Tweed. It is Scotland's oldest inhabited house and has its own famous little brewery.
