On the East Sutherland coast of the Scottish highlands, Culgower House offers tranquil, contemporary, high quality bed and breakfast in a traditional setting. Ideally placed for exploring the north highlands or stopping en route to Orkney.
Culgower House lies between Brora and Helmsdale on the scenic coast of East Sutherland and has glorious views over the sea. It is a Victorian farmhouse, built around 1850 and now a beautifully refurbished family home where we offer warm hospitality. It is ideally placed for exploring the north highlands of Scotland. As well as glorious beaches within walking distance, the area is ideal for walkers, golfers, mountain bikers, fishers and those wishing to explore the history of the area. Our bedrooms have been carefully refurbished and styled to reflect the age, character and location of the house. Both have king size beds, sea views, flowers, wireless internet, tv/dvd and bathrooms with large baths and showers. One room can be turned into a family room and the second can be altered to a twin room.
The public rooms have been similarly restored and are kept for the sole use of our guests. Breakfast is served in the dining room and is prepared using as much local produce as possible. Where possible we use fruit, herbs and vegetables from our garden and eggs from our hens. We make our own bread, preserves and chutneys. Local suppliers provide high quality meat, seafood, oatmeal and honey.
We offer tea and baking on arrival and hope that you will enjoy relaxing in the sitting room with its piano, books and original fire place. We also have a boot room, drying room and offer secure storage for bikes.
