Winter
Outside, the icy cold, sometimes snow, with crisp walks in winter sunshine, wrapped up well, dry still nights with an entire skyful of millions of stars all around.
Inside, warmth of oil central heating, serious double glazing, 200year old two-foot thick walls with a fully equipped kitchen, and room enough for children's games, internet , original wood-lined bedrooms - electricity and heating inclusive.
Spring.
Outside, so many plovers, yellowhammers, chaffinches, blue-tits, and many more, daffodils, heathers, snowdrops and wild flowers.
Inside, open windows on good days, cosy on cold with so many places to visit (full details supplied) and even an early barbeque!
Summer.
Outside - those house builders of 200years ago knew a thing or two - you build your house where there is a regular opening in the cloud to let the sun shine through - good to play outside, watch the cattle that crowd the fence to speak to you, eat outside, laze about outside. Or visit anything you can imagine: within one hour's drive, there are at least 4 sandy safe-to-swim beaches, 4 international standard swimming pools, 10 concert halls, 5 groups of hills, 3 Munros, 3 salmon rivers and a dozen visitable castles, countless fascinating little places to visit - Edinburgh and Perth too! And the swallows beside you always working, tirelessly, too.
Inside. Coolness from the summer heat - yes it can get that hot - things to do on rainy or lazy days, watch the sun rise out of the land, just an occasional distant cottage or farmhouse to see, watch the buzzard family soar and glide below you and the magical Lomond Hills beyond - bring your binoculars!
Autumn
Outside - more of the summer above, long, long walks where very few go. September can have wonderful clear weather, October too. Spectacular evening sun and effects across the hills. Busy little animals preparing for the coming winter. Wildflowers - and the cosmos - such joyful flowers welcoming you home after a long day.
Inside, a slow-cooked casserole with local produce from excellent farm shops: venison, mutton, pheasant, duck. Cosy round the telly and the fire for your favourite shows or an evening at the Beinn Inn or Glenfarg folk club amongst friendly local people.
And at any time at all, if the forecast's good, and you've good stout clothes and shoes, and you're feeling fit, an hour-and-a-half away is Ben Vorlich, 3,300ft, walkable by all of the family, with a 60 miles away view of Scotland’s Highlands that'll take your breath away in its fabulous majesty. Or for lesser effort, Perth's Kinnoull Hill, 722ft, drive half the way up by car for a world-class view from the top; or Arthur's Seat - a 700ft old volcano in the middle of Edinburgh!
